Instead of feeding your kombucha with the usual herbs and tea, try using Kola Tea (recipe below) instead of black tea. Your kombucha will digest the Kola Tea faster than black tea, so expect a fermentation time that is 2 to 3 days shorter. The flavor will be strong and distinctly taste like cola.
Tip: Enjoy the Kola Kombucha best with crushed ice and lemon.
Kola Tea
For one cup: about 10g = 1 to 2 teaspoons per 250ml of hot water
For a pot: about 40g = 2 to 4 teaspoons per 1 liter of hot water
Pour hot water (80 to 90°C) over finely chopped kola pieces and let steep, covered, for 10 minutes. Strain, let cool, and then feed to the kombucha.
